A leading global testing instrument manufacturer has officially unveiled its upgraded full-automatic Brinell hardness testing system, targeting foundries, steel mills, and heavy equipment manufacturers worldwide. The new model integrates built-in high-resolution XLED optical imaging and proprietary AI indentation recognition algorithms, marking a major leap forward from traditional manual eyepiece measurement modes.

Traditional Brinell testing relies on operators to manually read indentation diameters under microscopes, which often introduces deviations caused by visual fatigue, uneven lighting, or rough casting surfaces. The newly released equipment automatically captures indentation images, calculates Brinell hardness values (HB/HBW) within 0.3 seconds, and stores all test data including specimen serial numbers, test loads, timestamps and raw indentation photos for full traceability complying with ISO 6506 and ASTM E10 standards.

Engineers stated that the system supports multiple standard indenters (10mm tungsten carbide ball for HBW, 2.5mm and 5mm small balls) and covers test forces from 500kgf to 3000kgf, perfectly matching inspection demands for cast iron, forged steel, low-alloy structural steel and thick metal blanks. Its moving test head design clamps workpieces with pressure higher than the maximum test load, completely avoiding specimen shifting during indentation, a common pain point in busy production workshops.

Manufacturers of construction machinery and wind power components have placed bulk pre-orders. Plant quality managers commented that the automatic Brinell tester cuts single-test cycle time drastically and removes subjective human error, stabilizing hardness inspection consistency for batch forgings and castings with coarse grain structures-materials where Brinell testing remains irreplaceable compared to Rockwell or Vickers methods.
